Best Ceramic Coating Melbourne

The Best Ceramic Coating in Melbourne: What Matters

Ask ten detailers for the best ceramic coating and you will hear ten brand names. The brand matters less than people think. What decides how a coating looks and how long it lasts is the preparation underneath it, the place it cures, and whether the person applying it is trained on that product. This guide covers how to judge all of it.

Liquid R has been coating cars in Mitcham since 2015 as Gtechniq trained applicators. Coatings start at $980 on bare paint, including decontamination and machine polish. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888.

Product: Ceramic or Graphene

Both cure into a hard, slick layer over the clear coat. Graphene adds a slicker finish and lower surface tension, so it spots less on hot panels, which suits cars parked outside. We use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and Envoke ProCoat+ 7 Year Graphene Coating. More on graphene coating. Dark cars benefit most, see coating dark cars.

Machine polishing a black car during paint correction

Professional or DIY

DIY kits are real chemistry with none of the preparation. Applied over contaminated, uncorrected paint they lock in the problems, streak in ways that need a machine polish to undo, and last a fraction as long. Professional grade products such as Crystal Serum Ultra are only sold to accredited workshops.

Preparation Is Most of the Result

Foam pre-wash, two bucket contact wash, iron and tar removal, clay, then machine polishing under inspection lights. The best coating in the world sealed over swirls is still a swirled car. Ask what preparation is included in any quote.

Where It Cures

A coating curing in a driveway collects wind-blown dust. The best results come from indoor bays kept at a steady temperature. Ours are lit for inspection so high spots are caught before the coating hardens.

Honest Lifespan Claims

Be wary of anyone promising ten years of beading on a daily driver. A professionally applied coating protects for two to five years in normal Melbourne use, and well maintained cars have stretched ours toward nine. The wash routine makes most of the difference. Our article on ceramic coating myths goes further.

What a Coating Will Not Do

No coating stops stone chips, whatever the brochure says. Impact protection is the job of paint protection film. If chips are your worry, read our guide to the best PPF first.

Coating Over Film

The best setup for a new car that does freeway kilometres is often film on the front and a coating over everything. A ceramic layer over PPF in the same booking is $650.

3M paint protection film warranty cards

Warranty in Writing

A real coating warranty names the product, the term and what you have to do to keep it, usually a wash routine and sometimes an annual inspection. Get it in writing at handover. Keeping it valid means avoiding the common mistakes after coating.

Wheels and Interior Too

Brake dust is harder on wheels than anything is on paint. Wheel ceramic is $60 per wheel. Leather and fabric coatings slow spills soaking in, and both are part of Pack 2 and up of our new car packages.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

What is the best ceramic coating for cars?

The best results come from a professional grade coating applied over properly prepared paint, indoors, by a trained applicator. Our packages use Gtechniq and Envoke graphene products.

Is graphene better than ceramic?

Graphene is slicker and spots less on hot panels, which suits cars parked outside. Both protect the clear coat in a similar way.

How long does the best ceramic coating last?

Two to five years in normal Melbourne use with a proper wash routine. Claims of ten years on a daily driver should be treated with caution.

Is a DIY ceramic coating as good as a professional one?

Rarely. DIY kits skip the decontamination and correction that decide the result, and they last a fraction as long.

How much is the best ceramic coating in Melbourne?

At Liquid R, coating on bare paint starts at $980 including decontamination and machine polish. New car packages start at $1090.
