Ceramic Coating Thomastown

Ceramic Coating near Thomastown

Liquid R serves Thomastown and the rest of Melbourne’s north from one workshop in Mitcham, about 30 km away and roughly 45 minutes by car outside peak hour. Ceramic coating starts at $980 on bare paint, including decontamination and machine polish, and new car packages start at $1090.

Preparation is most of the job: a foam pre-wash, iron and tar removal, clay and machine polishing under inspection lights before the coating goes on. We use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and Envoke ProCoat+ 7 Year Graphene Coating, cured indoors.

Every quote is a fixed figure before the car is booked, and it is the same whichever suburb you come from. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888 to book.

Washing a Coated Car

pH neutral shampoo, a rinse before contact, no brush car washes, and a clean towel or blower to dry, as set out in our guide to washing a coated car. Done that way the coating keeps beading and nothing gritty gets dragged across the paint.

How Long It Lasts

A professionally applied coating protects for two to five years in normal Melbourne use, and well maintained cars have stretched ours toward nine. The wash routine makes most of the difference, and our list of mistakes to avoid after a coating covers the rest.

Trees, Birds and Parking Outside

Cars parked on the street or under trees collect sap and bird droppings that etch bare paint in the sun. A coated surface buys time and releases them with a gentle wash.

Water Spots and Bore Water

Sprinklers and bore water leave mineral rings that etch bare paint in the sun. Graphene chemistry in particular resists those spots, and a coated panel releases them with a normal wash.

Coating Versus Wax

Wax sits on top of the paint and gives up within weeks to sun and shampoo. A ceramic coating bonds and stays for years. Most of our coating customers are former regular waxers who did the sums. More in our ceramic coating myths article.

Thomastown Customers, One Workshop

We have no branch out near Thomastown, only our Mitcham workshop. If the drive suits you, the work is done indoors by staff who do this every day, and the booking is planned around a single trip. More about who we are, and if you are comparing shops, our guide to the best ceramic coating in Melbourne lists what to check.

Booking and Turnaround

Coatings need curing time, so most cars stay with us for a couple of days. Coming from Thomastown, it makes sense to combine jobs, such as film and coating, or a detail with tint, into one booking so the drive happens once. We confirm the timing when you book.

Brake dust bakes onto bare alloys and pits the finish. A wheel ceramic, $60 per wheel, handles the heat and lets the dust rinse off before it bonds.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

How far is Liquid R from Thomastown?

The workshop at 12/23A Cook Road, Mitcham is about 30 km from Thomastown, roughly 45 minutes by car outside peak hour.

Is pricing different for Thomastown?

No. Every price is the same wherever you live. The quote depends on the car and the work, never the postcode.

Do you come to me, or do I bring the car in?

Every job is done at our Mitcham workshop. Film, coatings and tint need clean indoor bays and proper lighting, which a driveway cannot give, and that is what our results depend on.

Does my car need correction before coating?

If the paint has swirls or scratches, yes, because the coating seals in what is underneath. New cars usually need only a light polish.

Why not use a DIY ceramic kit?

DIY kits skip the preparation. Applied over contaminated, uncorrected paint they lock in the problems and last a fraction as long.
