Preparation Decides the Result

Foam pre-wash, two bucket contact wash, iron and tar removal, clay, then machine polishing under inspection lights. Skip any step and you seal dirt and swirls under glass. This preparation, the same work as a cut and polish, is most of the labour and most of the price.

Washing a Coated Car

pH neutral shampoo, a rinse before contact, no brush car washes, and a clean towel or blower to dry, as set out in our guide to washing a coated car. Done that way the coating keeps beading and nothing gritty gets dragged across the paint.

Road Grime From the Commute

Freeway driving on roads like Burwood Highway coats a car in road film, bugs and brake dust. A ceramic coating lets most of it rinse off, so the car stays clean longer between washes.

Leather and Fabric Coating

Gtechniq L1 on leather and I1 on fabric slow how fast spills soak in, so coffee and sunscreen wipe away instead of staining. Popular on light interiors and family cars.

Lights, Trim and Every Panel

In our packages the coating goes on every external panel, and on headlights, tail lights and exterior trim as well, so the whole car beads and cleans the same way.

One Workshop, in Mitcham

Liquid R has one workshop, in Mitcham, and Glen Iris customers come to it. That is deliberate: ceramic coating work needs clean indoor bays and proper lighting that a mobile setup cannot match, and every job is done by our own team. More about who we are, and if you are comparing shops, our guide to the best ceramic coating in Melbourne lists what to check.

Planning the Visit

Coatings need curing time, so most cars stay with us for a couple of days. We agree the drop-off and pickup times with you up front, so a trip from Glen Iris fits your week rather than the other way round. We are open weekdays 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturdays to 12:30pm.

Ceramic or Graphene

Both cure into a hard layer over the clear coat. Graphene adds a slicker finish and lower surface tension, so it spots less on hot panels. If the car sleeps outside, graphene usually earns its extra cost.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

How far is Liquid R from Glen Iris?

The workshop at 12/23A Cook Road, Mitcham is about 18.2 km from Glen Iris, roughly 30 minutes by car outside peak hour.

Do Glen Iris customers pay the same price?

No. Every price is the same wherever you live. The quote depends on the car and the work, never the postcode.

Do you come to me, or do I bring the car in?

Every job is done at our Mitcham workshop. Film, coatings and tint need clean indoor bays and proper lighting, which a driveway cannot give, and that is what our results depend on.

How long does a ceramic coating last?

Two to five years in normal Melbourne use with a proper wash routine, and longer on well maintained cars.

Can you coat an older car?

Yes. Older paint is decontaminated and corrected first, then coated, and often shows the biggest change.
