Washing a Coated Car

pH neutral shampoo, a rinse before contact, no brush car washes, and a clean towel or blower to dry, as set out in our guide to washing a coated car. Done that way the coating keeps beading and nothing gritty gets dragged across the paint.

How Long It Lasts

A professionally applied coating protects for two to five years in normal Melbourne use, and well maintained cars have stretched ours toward nine. The wash routine makes most of the difference, and our list of mistakes to avoid after a coating covers the rest.

Road Grime From the Commute

Freeway driving on roads like EastLink coats a car in road film, bugs and brake dust. A ceramic coating lets most of it rinse off, so the car stays clean longer between washes.

Coating an Older Car

Older paint often shows the biggest change. The process is the same: decontaminate, correct what correction can fix, then coat. The coating locks in the corrected finish and makes it far easier to keep.

Water Spots and Bore Water

Sprinklers and bore water leave mineral rings that etch bare paint in the sun. Graphene chemistry in particular resists those spots, and a coated panel releases them with a normal wash.

One Workshop, in Mitcham

We do not have a Ferntree Gully branch, and we do not need one: Ferntree Gully is one of the closest areas to our Mitcham workshop. Every ceramic coating job is done indoors in our own bays by our own team, never by a mobile van in your driveway. More about who we are, and if you are comparing shops, our guide to the best ceramic coating in Melbourne lists what to check.

Booking and Turnaround

Coatings need curing time, so most cars stay with us for a couple of days. We agree the drop-off and pickup times with you up front, so a trip from Ferntree Gully fits your week rather than the other way round. We are open weekdays 8:30am to 5:00pm and Saturdays to 12:30pm.

Coated Indoors

Coating in a driveway lets wind-blown dust settle into the wet coating. Our bays are indoors, lit for inspection and kept at a steady temperature so the coating cures the way its maker intended.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

How far is Liquid R from Ferntree Gully?

The workshop at 12/23A Cook Road, Mitcham is about 13.9 km from Ferntree Gully, roughly 20 minutes by car outside peak hour.

Is pricing different for Ferntree Gully?

No. Every price is the same wherever you live. The quote depends on the car and the work, never the postcode.

Do you come to me, or do I bring the car in?

Every job is done at our Mitcham workshop. Film, coatings and tint need clean indoor bays and proper lighting, which a driveway cannot give, and that is what our results depend on.

Why not use a DIY ceramic kit?

DIY kits skip the preparation. Applied over contaminated, uncorrected paint they lock in the problems and last a fraction as long.

Does my car need correction before coating?

If the paint has swirls or scratches, yes, because the coating seals in what is underneath. New cars usually need only a light polish.
