Best Cut and Polish Melbourne

The Best Cut and Polish in Melbourne: What Good Looks Like

A cut and polish should leave paint deep and clear in direct sun, with no holograms and as much clear coat left as possible. The difference between a good one and a bad one is mostly restraint: how little the polisher removes to get the result. Here is how to tell before you book.

Liquid R does machine correction in indoor bays in Mitcham, from $850. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888.

Measure, Then Cut

The best correction starts with a test section using the lightest cut that shows a result. Only then is the rest of the car planned. A detailer who goes straight to the heaviest compound is removing clear coat you will never get back. Our guide to choosing a detailer covers the rest. More about how we work, and our detailing packages.

No Holograms

A rushed or poorly finished polish leaves buffer trails that show up in the sun a few days later. A proper refining stage after the cut removes them, which is why correction should be inspected under lights before the car goes home. See how detailing changes a car’s look.

Realistic Results

Swirls, water spots and light scratches come out. Fingernail deep scratches and chips do not. A good operator tells you which defects will go and which will not, before starting. Stone chips need repair first and then PPF to stop the next ones.

Dark Paint Needs Care

Black and deep metallic paint show every mark. They also show every mistake. These colours need the most patient refining stage and the best lighting. Our article on protecting dark cars covers what comes next.

Time Is a Good Sign

A proper one-stage polish takes most of a day, and multi-stage correction takes two to three days. A full correction promised in two hours is a glaze, not a correction. Why the time is worth it: the benefits of a premium detail.

Seal It While It Is Perfect

Corrected paint is bare. Sealing it with a ceramic coating, from $980 including single stage correction, keeps the result. Skipping that means paying for the same finish again. Then avoid the common mistakes after a coating, and follow our aftercare routine.

Indoors Matters

Correction in bright sun or wind lets dust and heat work against the polish. Our bays are indoors and lit for inspection. Directions are on our contact page.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers before you book. Anything else, call 1800 985 880.

What makes the best cut and polish?

Inspection first, the lightest cut that works, a proper refining stage to remove holograms, and an inspection under lights before handover.

How much is a good cut and polish in Melbourne?

At Liquid R, machine polishing starts from $850, and multi-stage correction is quoted after inspection.

How long should a cut and polish take?

Most of a day for a one-stage polish, and two to three days for multi-stage correction.

Will a cut and polish remove all scratches?

Swirls and light scratches, yes. Scratches deep enough to catch a fingernail need paint.

Should I coat the car after?

Yes, it is the best time. A ceramic coating locks in the corrected finish.
