Car Wraps Melbourne
Car Wraps in Melbourne, Done in Colour PPF
Liquid R wraps cars in colour PPF rather than vinyl. The film is Spectra Colour PPF from Defcon Films Australia: a self-healing urethane film with the colour built in, so the wrap changes how the car looks and stops stone chips in the same layer. We stopped doing vinyl wraps because colour film lasts longer on Melbourne roads and protects the paint underneath instead of only covering it.
A full car wrap starts at $6980 and takes about five to seven working days in our Mitcham workshop. Roofs, mirrors and other partial wraps are usually finished the same day. Call 1800 985 880 or text 0483 930 888 with your car and the colour you have in mind.

Why We Wrap in PPF, Not Vinyl
Vinyl is a thin cast film. It looks sharp on day one, but a stone that would chip paint usually cuts straight through it, and budget vinyl fades and shrinks back at the edges after a few summers. Colour PPF is far thicker, heals light scratches with warmth and carries a manufacturer warranty against yellowing and cracking. If vinyl is what you want, we are not the right shop and would rather tell you now. The colour PPF vs vinyl wrap guide sets out the differences. Comparing shops? Read how to pick the best car wrap.
What a Full Car Wrap Costs
Full colour wraps start at $6980. Where a car lands above that depends on its size, how many panels and trim pieces come off, and whether a ceramic layer goes over the film. A proper respray usually costs more once trim removal is done right, and it is permanent. Your price is fixed before the car comes in. Clear film prices are listed in our PPF cost guide.
Gloss, Satin, Matte and Flip
The Spectra range covers deep gloss, satin, true matte and colour flip films that change tone as the light moves. Satin and matte wraps never need polishing, which suits a car that gets driven every day rather than kept under a cover. Owners who want a satin look over the factory colour, with no colour change at all, should look at matte and satin PPF. Finishes are compared in our article on premium wrap finishes.
Partial Wraps and Roof Wraps
Not every job is a full colour change. Gloss black roofs, mirror caps, splitters and spoilers are wrapped in the same film with the same panels off preparation, usually in a day. A black roof wrap gives the panoramic look without a respray and takes the sap and bird droppings that ruin roof paint first. Partial packs are popular on the BMW M2, M3 and M4. Our guide to full, partial or spot wraps helps you choose.
How Long a Car Wrap Takes
Plan on five to seven working days for a full wrap. Bumpers, handles, mirrors and badges come off rather than getting cut around on the car, every edge is wrapped, and the car stays indoors in a clean booth for the whole job. Partial work like a roof or a mirror set is normally done while you wait or by the afternoon.
Wrapping a Tesla or EV
Electric cars are the most common wrap we do. Thin factory paint and long waits for resprays make film the sensible way to change colour, and satin black or gunmetal over white Teslas leads the queue. The film also protects that soft paint from the first freeway chips. Model by model detail is on our Tesla page, and the wider picture is on the EV protection page.
Taking the Wrap Off Later
Colour film comes off with heat and leaves factory paint behind that has spent years shielded from UV and stone chips. That is the big difference from a respray: the change is reversible. A leased car goes back in its contract colour, and a car you sell can return to its original colour for buyers who prefer it.
Caring for a Wrapped Car
Hand wash with a pH neutral shampoo, keep the pressure washer tip back from film edges and stay out of brush car washes. Satin and matte wraps need matte safe products only, never wax or polish. A ceramic layer over the film makes all of this easier and costs $650 when it is added during the wrap. The full routine is on our aftercare page.
Wrap Warranty and Lifespan
Spectra Colour PPF carries a manufacturer warranty against yellowing, cracking and delamination, and our workmanship is covered in writing on top of that. With a normal wash routine, a quality colour film gives seven to ten years of service, well beyond what most vinyl wraps manage in Melbourne sun.

I had a ceramic coating and a paint protection film (PPF) package applied by Liquid R, with Jacky and Bob overseeing the process. I am very pleased with the results. After I dropped off my car at Liquid R one night, I noticed through the My Toyota App that my 2025 Toyota LC 300 was parked in a different location.

I highly recommend choosing Liquid R for any of your vehicle care needs. I had the full exterior XPEL PPF (Paint Protection Film) applied to my 2025 M4 CS, along with the interior center console, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results. Working with both Jacky and Bobby throughout the entire process was an absolute pleasure.

Jacky and the team did a fantastic job on my Golf VW GTI with PPF and Ceramic Coating. The King's Red on the car popped out, with a smooth and slick to the touch! Professional and flexible to your needs without trying to put their opinion on you in an attempt to overwrite you as if your needs are stupid. Competitive pricing as well! Highly recommend these guys. Note: Better book in quick!

Jacky is the most patient, honest and passionate professional. He was so willing to share his expertise – even when I didn’t appear to be anything other than a researcher! He was far from where I live but I chose him because he gave me quality for a competitive price right from the outset and he did not try and deter me from going to my local company.

The guys were fantastic, they took their time showing me the different products and were very knowledgeable. I had PPF applied to my previous vehicle by another company and wasn't happy with the result, however this time the job was impeccable. The upgrades I selected raised the price substantially, but it was worth it. I'll be taking my other cars there as well. I highly recommend Liquid R.

Professional advice and reasonable price. Most important is that they work with hearts. I have my 5 years old Toyota Corolla “fixed “ by them. Now I got a brand new car. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I picked up my 2nd car from Liquid-R yesterday. Another stunning work.

A full colour wrap in Spectra Colour PPF starts at $6980 at our Mitcham workshop. Larger cars and jobs with more trim removal cost more, and partial wraps such as a roof or mirrors are quoted per panel. Every quote is a fixed figure before the car is booked in.
No. Liquid R no longer offers vinyl wraps. Every colour change we do uses colour PPF, which is thicker, self-heals light scratches and protects the paint from stone chips while it changes the colour.
Expect seven to ten years from a quality colour PPF with a normal hand wash routine. The film is warranted by the manufacturer against yellowing, cracking and delamination.
Yes. Victorian registration records list the vehicle colour, so a full colour change should be updated with VicRoads once the wrap is done. It is a simple online notification.
Yes. Colour PPF is fully reversible, so the car can go back to its contract colour when the film comes off at the end of the lease.
